After Care Assistant

Richmond Waldorf School seeks an After Care Assistant


Summary: 

The After Care Assistant Teacher provides support to the Lead Teacher.

 

Essential Functions:

       Daily Preparation

o   Prepare classroom for afternoon activities and rhythm

       School Time Functions                       

o   Prepare and oversee daily activities with children involvement

o   Attend to disruptive children and encourage appropriate social interaction

o   Supervise and ensure all children are safe and treated fairly by their peers

o   Assist children with bodily care needs

o   Help children participate in Lead Teacher led activities

o   Assist Lead Teacher where needed

o   Assume lead role when lead teacher is out of room or absent

       After School Functions

o   Prepare class room for the next day’s activities

       Mentorship

o   Work with mentor in ongoing weekly sessions regarding class, children, child development, and planning

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

    After Care begins at 1:00PM and ends at 6:00PM each day.  Assistant will work scheduled hours established by the Lead After Care Teacher.

    Employee will work hourly as deemed necessary by the Lead Teacher

    Fulfilling the conditions of employment will sometimes extend beyond regular hours to include but not be limited to, classroom preparation, administrative responsibilities, meeting/activity responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.  As such, completion of these responsibilities is the standard for meeting or exceeding job requirements.

    The school work calendar includes two weeks before and one week after the close of the academic year, or such time as the school deems necessary. Employee will work normal hours during the work weeks, unless otherwise directed.


    Education and Experience: 

    Required: 

           Attendance at courses and workshops both on and off RWS campus to further Waldorf Education

           An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for requirements

    Preferred:

            Experience in Waldorf Education
