Director of Administration
Richmond Waldorf School is seeking a Director of Administration to serve as the leader of the school’s business operations. As a leader this position:
Reports to the Board of Trustees
Is a member of the 3-person “Leadership Team”, serving with the Faculty College Chair and the Community Relations Coordinator.
Is a member of Board of Trustees Committees: Finance Committee, Long Range Planning Committee, School Leadership Support Committee
Is responsible for developing the annual Budget process and monthly reporting.
Establishes annual and long-range goals for the Administration functions.
Note: This position is available immediately, or could wait until the end of the current academic year.
The Director of Administration is responsible for the facilitation and coordination of school business and for directing and supervising daily operations including:
Administrative oversight of 4 employees and 3 contracted staff.
Policy and procedures for Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, Buildings and Grounds Maintenance and Contracts, Health and Safety, Enrollment and Retention, Marketing, Development, Front Office and related Federal, State and required education-affiliation compliance.
A successful candidate will have superior oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and coaching skills; strong Human Resources, budgeting and facility management skills, excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment as well as Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; excellent organizational skills; ability to create and manage databases; demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff; demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on a Leadership Team; demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a Board of Trustees; and the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.
Qualifications: The Director of Administration must be in harmony with, and ideally exhibit knowledge of, Waldorf school philosophy, its educational principles, techniques, and methods. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Educational Administration & Supervision, Finance, or other related field required; progressively responsible comprehensive experience in the broad field of business management. Experience with multi-functional organizational operations including facility management. Experience in a non-profit environment desirable. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for requirements.
